The Spin Optoelectronics Laboratory (SOEL) at Hunan Normal University is proud to announce a series of recent honors recognizing the achievements of both faculty and student members in research and academic development.

Prof. Jifei Wang has been awarded the 2025 Hunan Provincial Natural Science Foundation Youth Program (Category A) for his work on perovskites solar cells and optoelectrical materials.

Wenjin Huang, a Ph.D. student, received the Best Flash Presentation Award at the ACS Spring 2025 Digital Meeting – Chemistry Interfaces at the Forefront of Energy and Sustainability. Her talk on spin dynamics in organic semiconductors was recognized for its scientific depth, slide quality, and delivery.

Tianchi Deng, an undergraduate student, was selected as the project leader of a National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program. His two-year project, “Hot Carrier Dynamics in Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Semiconductors”, with 20,000 RMB in funding, began in October 2024 under the supervision of Prof. Yaxin Zhai.

Zirui Huang, another undergraduate student, received the 2025 Hunan Provincial Natural Science Foundation – Basic Research Program for Young Students, with 50,000 RMB in funding. Her project, “Hot Carrier Dynamics in Cesium-Doped Hybrid Semiconductors”, runs from 2025 to 2027.

Zhongzhou Liu, an undergraduate member of SOEL, has been admitted to the 2025 master’s program at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IOP, CAS). She participated in ultrafast spectroscopy research in the lab and demonstrated strong academic and experimental capabilities.

In recognition of contributions to student mentorship and teaching, Prof. Yaxin Zhai received multiple honors in 2024, including the Shicheng Academy Excellent Academic Mentor Award, the Hunan Normal University Top 100 Teaching Design Award, the First Prize for Teaching Excellence from the School of Physics and Electronics, and the Outstanding Class Advisor Award. These awards reflect the lab’s commitment to high-quality education and student development.

Congratulations to all awardees!
